SATURDAY AFTERNOON ROUND UP
So it’s Saturday lunchtime and unbelievably, it’s actually hotter than yesterday, borderline glorious! The wellies have been replaced by flip flops and waterproofs by bikinis. In spite of the heat it’s a well refreshed and downright enormous crowd that greets youthful Tennessee pop punks Paramore to the Main Stage. They’ve always been portrayed as the wholesome side of punk rock so when they named their recently released album “Riot”, a good few titters were exclaimed. But today they live up to that title, by being by far the loudest band of the weekend so far, to the extent that you can hear them in the campsite!
Volume is only one aspect though and the band also deliver an extremely well oiled performance, with frontwoman Hayley Williams leading the ecstatic crowd through “Pressure” and “Misery Business” with a confidence that’s way beyond her 18 years. Watch this space.
Over in the thankfully undercover Dance Tent, Canadian dance quirksters Crystal Castles are whipping up a frenzy, despite their early stage time. Having only played a handful of UK shows before today the band have still managed to draw quite a crowd, which is only right and proper as cuts like “Untrust Us” and “Alice Practice” deserve to be heard on mass. Well worth checking out in the coming months.
