VOLUNTEER / GIVE / HELP

CAMPSITE ASSISTANT TEAMS (CATs)

Gain free entrance to this summer's Carling Weekend: Reading by joining our Campsite Assistant Teams (CATs).

Festival organisers, Festival Republic, are recruiting volunteers to be the 'eyes and ears' of the ever popular Carling Weekend: Reading Festival.

Typical duties of a volunteer include:

  • Assisting festivalgoers with directions.
  • Helping festival goers carry their belongings and pitch their tents.
  • Reporting back on any problems in the campsites, such as litter and facilities.

In return for their efforts all volunteers are provided with:

  • A crew pass
  • A CAT Pack
  • A CAT uniform
  • A secure camping area
  • Access to crew cafe, bar, toilets, and hot showers.

All volunteers are welcome to enjoy the festival when they are off-shift.

To apply volunteers need to:

  • Be 18 or over
  • Be available to arrive at the festival site between midday>21:00 on the Wednesday prior to the weekend of the event.
  • Be available for a briefing at either 14:00 or 22:00 on the Wednesday.
  • Be available to work 3 x 8 hour shifts at any time between 16:00>midnight Wednesday and 16:00 Monday.

We would really like to build on the work we've been doing since 2003 -  making our campsites friendlier, creating a good atmosphere, and all to get the most out of their festival. By you being there helping people, you will help us achieve this.

GIVE ME SHELTER

Your TENT could change lives!

Every year thousands of tents get dumped or trashed on site after people have finished using them and don't want to take them home for whatever reason. But please think differently this year, as these tents could change the lives of other people who are in desperate situations worldwide.

At this year's Reading festival, please take your complete tent, sleeping bags and wellies to one of the collection points at your campsite zone manager's caravan before you leave. And make sure you get your mates to do the same.

Your festival kit could help:

Give shelter for families caught up in disasters such as earthquakes, famine and conflict
Give children from impoverished backgrounds the chance to have fun at a summer camp
Give emergency staff shelter and storage space for vital medical and educational materials
Together with the charity Global Hand, we're making this happen.

Don't dump it. Don't destroy it. Donate it.

GREEN MESSENGERS

Leeds and Reading festivals are looking to recruit up to 280 "green messengers" to work in the campsites at each festival, talking to the festival goers and encouraging them to be environmentally aware in the disposal of their rubbish, particularly in packing up. Festival Republic are keen to alert festival goers to the environmental impact of burning their tents and possessions instead of taking them home or donating them. The organisation, Global Hand is working in association with Festival Republic at both events to collect in any left behind tents and possessions for re - use in disaster relief and the green messengers will work with Global Hand on the Monday and Tuesday to help recycle the tents.

To apply, you must be over 18, available to work from Wednesday 23rd to Tuesday 28th August, doing a total of 24 hours in shifts at some point during Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. You will be free to enjoy the festivals the rest of the time. You must be proactive and dynamic, and happy to interact with the public, spreading the stop climate chaos message.

If you have already bought a ticket for Reading or Leeds, you can still apply. Please email below for details on what you will need to do to complete your application.

To apply, email: Emily Kay on ekay@festivalrepublic.com with your name, address, mobile number, email, date of birth, place of birth, next of kin contact details and your NI number.
